Documents & narration

Upload PDF, Word, DRM-free EPUB, TXT or Markdown, up to 25 MB. Narration supports English. PDFs need selectable text; scanned images are not transcribed. Page ranges apply to PDFs.

Choose a voice, review the extracted text, then generate your audiobook. Word headings and EPUB reading order are preserved. Jobs wait safely when the narrator is offline.

Only upload material you have permission to convert and share.

Offline listening

Open a book and tap Save offline. Keep Folio open until it says Saved offline. Find downloads in Library → Downloaded.

On iPhone

In Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. Open Folio from that icon and save your books there.

Downloads, highlights and your listening position stay in this browser on this device. Clearing website data or browser storage cleanup can remove them. Export MP3 saves a separate file to Files for a backup.

Sharing & book clubs

Anyone with a listening link can play or download that audiobook and read its narrated text. Revoke a link to stop future access; copies already downloaded cannot be removed.

Clubs are invite-only. Hosts add finished audiobooks; members listen at no extra charge. A standard host can invite up to 10 people including themselves. Unlimited hosts can invite unlimited members.

Your email and private library stay private. Highlights stay on your device unless you send them to club chat. Hosts manage invitations and membership in the People tab.

Standard books are stored for one year. Permanent books have no automatic expiration. Keep library recovery keys and API keys private.

Minutes & billing

Minutes pay for audio generation. Before you start, Folio shows the maximum reservation. It settles against generated audio and returns unused minutes. Failures and cancellations return reserved minutes. A preview counts toward its full book; generating again uses additional minutes.

Unlimited members do not spend credits. The monthly plan renews automatically; cancel in Settings → Billing. Access continues through your paid month. Generation time depends on the queue and narrator availability.
